St. Patrick´s Day
March 17 marks the day of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick was born in 387 in Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland. Irish pirates and taken prisoner Patrick sold him into slavery. He spent six years in Ireland, where he learned the Celtic language, after a while planning his escape and went to France to prepare for the monastic life, and became a priest. When he was 46 he decided to return to Ireland to evangelize the locals. And there he remained for nearly three decades, until his death on March 17 of the year 461.
